These ingredients altogether make your rasam an all-time favourite in the family. Cook Potato or cauliflower stir fry palya and add the magical rasam powder for a palatable experience.

Directions for using Rasam powder

  • In a pot, boil 1 cup water, tamarind Water (about 15/25gms soaked in water), 15 curry leaves, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 Tbsp jaggery, 1 Tbsp salt and 1Tbsp coconut oil.
  • Once it boils for a minute, add 2 small chopped tomotoes
    Now add watery cooked blended toor dal.
  • Once it boils, add rasam powder and chopped coriander leaves. Boil it for 2 minutes.
  • Enjoy this healthy rasam with rice, oats, or have it like a drink or soup.

Rasam or Saaru as we say it in our home, is my son, Rahool’s and my all time comfort soup. I love to pair it with a palya (a stiffry of any vegetable) and a dollop of yogurt. It is a great drink on a winter day too.
